Afternoon birders, It feels like a quiet day at Rondeau, although the birds are generally giving excellent looks when you do find them.
The show at the maintenance loop seems to have quieted down, although the birds are likely still around. A Prothonotary Warbler was briefly present but soon left. I've learned that there were at least 2 Cerulean Warblers and 2 Hooded Warblers present as well. A Brewster's Warbler was present at Log Pond south of Pony Barn. I don't think the Yellow-throated Warblers have been seen at the visitor centre today, but have been visiting cottage #17372. A male Scarlet Tanager is visiting the niger feeder at the visitor centre - very odd! Thank you to everyone who contributed sightings and please continue to do so at the Visitor Centre. More information on the park's nature programs and the Friends of Rondeau is available at the Friends' website: www.rondeauprovincialpark.ca. Directions: Take exit 101 from Highway 401 and drive South 16 km on Chatham Kent Road 15. Turn right and follow the signs to the park. The Bird Sightings Book, Bird Sightings Board, Bird Checklists and other relevant information are to be found at the Visitor Centre. To reach the Visitor Centre from the park Gate, travel 6 km South on Rondeau Road to Gardiner Ave., then follow it around the bend to the parking lot.
