Rain and winds out of the NW last have kept most migrants in the park, but the cold and blustery morning has brought new arrivals as well.
At the Tip was a DUNLIN and now a banded PIPING PLOVER is putting on a great show, so far the bird of the day. 20 species of warblers have been reported in the park with a good concentration at the Tip on the east side. Seen today BLACKBURNIAN, GOLDEN-WINGED, BLUE-WINGED, WILSONS, NORTHERN PARULA, WORM-EATING, CAPE MAY and OVENBIRD. NORTHERN WATERTHRUSHES are singing on the Shuster Trail. HERMIT THRUSH and RUBY THROATED HUMMINGBIRD were among the birds seen in Tilden Woods on this mornings Friends of Point Pelee Hike. The RED-HEADED WOODPECKER show is still going on at the East Beach north of the Tip with 2 seen this morning. Strong winds have grounded all five species of swallows at the tip on east side. They were busy foraging for bugs and sheltering.
