Good afternoon birders, It has been a good day at Rondeau with plenty of birds around, mostly in sheltered areas in the woods. Unfortunately, most of the rarer birds have not stuck around for anyone but their original observers.
A Worm-eating Warbler at Spicebush Trail Boardwalk C was briefly seen and photographed, but has not been reported again. Spicebush Trail seems to be the busiest trail in the park, with many other warblers including Golden-winged, Bay-breasted and Northern Waterthrush as well as Yellow-throated Vireo and Scarlet Tanager. At least 1 Acadian Flycatcher is present near the start of Tulip Tree Trail. A male Cerulean Warbler was also present for a few observers but has not been seen since. A highlight on Tulip Tree Trail was a Whip-poor-will perched just south of boardwalk H. In case anybody goes to find it and nobody is present to point it out, I have posted 3 pictures showing exactly where it is. The section of boardwalk visible in the pictures is the small indent with benches. 1: http://www.flickr.com/photos/59434382@N05/8726914644/in/photostream 2: http://www.flickr.com/photos/59434382@N05/8725789169/in/photostream/ 3: http://www.flickr.com/photos/59434382@N05/8725799587/in/photostream/ At least one Yellow-throated Warbler continues to visit the visitor centre feeders sporadically this afternoon. A Summer Tanager was reported on South Point Trail near post 14. Hooded Warblers are present at Pony Barn and the east end of South Point Trail. Thank you to everyone who contributed sightings and please continue to do so at the Visitor Centre.
