Greetings: Today, I have added to the current year's list of bird sightings at the wetland. My magical place in Brighton. Yellow Warbler, Common Yellow throated warbler, Swamp Sparrow, Sora (by ear), Nothern Harrier (male, what a beauty), Kingfisher. There are also 6 lots of baby gooslings - families of 3, 4, 5, 6 x 2 and 7. The Moorhen were once again very vocal and we saw many too. Also a Killdeer - let's hope they nest in the wetland again this year. Tuesday afternoon while sitting on my deck I noticed a rather large bird circling overhead. It caught my eye because there was a very slight curve to the wings, the tip of the bill and tail (with slight fanning) were equally distant from the wings. This rather large bird was very pale underneath with a black outline all around the outer edge of the wings. I have no idea what it was but I mus also add that as it banked the wings and body were in a striaght line. ?????? Last evening while enjoying the setting sun 2 Kingfisher entered the cedar hedge on the south side of the property. they were kicking up such a fuss that at first we had no idea what was happening. they were rather "perky", so we assumed that all the noise was all part of the courtship ritual. they were facinating to watch. Right now I have Yellow Warblers in the back garden. Most sincerely Maureen The Brighton Contsucted Wetland is located exactly 7.2 kilometres south off the eastbound 401 at exit 509 (Highway 30). Just follow the road straight through Brighton and the wetland will appear at #11 County Road 64.
