Today, early afternoon, constantly heard a Virginia Rail (male song
(kic, kic), not the grunt call) at the east side of "Dogwood" Pond in Oshawa
2nd Marsh. first Rail of season for me. My guess is that it might hang
around for a few days.

Also, at 2nd Marsh, Eastern Towhee's, Swamp Sparrows, Field Sparrows,
White-throated Sparrows, Junco's..still !!, Tree Swallows, Caspian Terns,
Common Terns, batches of Bonaparte's Gulls, Glaucous Gull, and lots of the
usual species. Not too many warblers, as yet, but a few Pine,
Yellow-rumped, and a probable Palm.

Directions:
Exit from the 401 at the Harmony Rd. Exit(419) in Oshawa. Go south on
Farewell St. Colonel Sam Drive. Turn East onto Colonel Sam Drive and follow
to the parking lot at the GM Headquarters. Park in the west parking lot
close to the marsh. The east (GM) platform is visible from the SW corner of
the lot. To get to the "Dogwood" Pond for the Virginia Rail, from the west
parking lot, go to its east side and then proceed down the hill and over to
the east and the gravel path. This path, essentially, goes around 3 sides
of the pond.

Good birding... Bruce
