Visiting my parents' house today, where I grew up and birded very intensively
from 1980 to 1990, sporadically since then, I was fortunate to see a flock of
about 70 Bohemian Waxwings fly by. There seem to a lot of them around this
winter and early spring. This sighting is especially significant for me as it
represents the 200th specie of bird that I have recorded since 1980 in the area
(Pine Point Park and Resources Road Ravine).
Incidentally, a part of the section known as Resources Road Ravine has recently
undergone a major transformation. Namely, the razing of a hill that once
offered a panoramic view, and it's replacement by a Lowe's warehouse and
soon-to-be-built hotel.
