I was coordinating and participating in the annual Rouge Valley Deer Census in the new Rouge National Park on Saturday March 9. While in the field myself and Robert Marshall heard, saw and confirmed a Common Raven in the Park between 2:45 and 3:05 p.m. Over this time period we observed the bird flying from spruce/pine copse to spruce/pine copse just west of the Little Rouge River valley. It was carrying nest sticks in its bill. The area is on the east side of Reesor's Road, north of the second Rail line and south of Steeles Avenue (south of Woodland Park). It is about a quarter mile walk into the field/forest to reach the active location. Presently deep/wet snow is on the ground in the area.
