The Western Grebe continues at Col. Sam Park - just off the west shore near the marina. The Snowy Owl is resting on the ice near the docks and the Harlequin was easily seen in the east bay with some Bufflehead.
Up in the hinterland where I live, the Cardinals are singing, the Downies and Hairies are drumming, the Mourning Doves are cooing, the Ravens are courtship flying, a pair of Red-tailed Hawks has returned and the first spring Robin appeared today. Directions: Col. Sam Smith Park is located at the terminus of Kipling Ave. and Lakeshore Blvd. in Toronto. When you get to the parking to walk south past the yellow gate and then west to get to the grebe. The hinterland is located near the junction of Reach and Lakeridge Roads east of Uxbridge Geoff Carpentier www.avocetnatureservices.com _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
