A Yellow-bellied Sapsucker has been observed (and now extensively photographed) in the wooded area near Olympic Area, on Olympic Drive, Dundas, ON.
Parking is behind Olympic Ice Surface, was spotted near the power lines about 200m north of the lot, though trails that begin by crossing under the power lines and through the woods on the other side of the lines lead to the spot where it was spotted, and has been territory for a Pileated Woodpecker known to the area. Also seen there today were a group of American Tree Sparrows, Mourning Doves, American Goldfinches, House Finches, and a couple White-throated Sparrows at a feeder hidden in the bushes underneath the power lines where the trail crosses back under the power lines about 200m north of the parking lot. To get there take York Road off of Highway 6 leading into Hamilton, then continue on the road as York Road becomes Olympic Drive, the arena is on the left. eBird Checklist with photos: http://ebird.org/ebird/canada/view/checklist?subID=S12877880 Rob _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
