Returning from viewing the Solitaire at Kendall at 2pm, we saw and photographed
a Red-shouldered Hawk active near some feeders in the area of Carscadden Road
and Ganaraska Road (Kirby Side Rd.) which is about 2 km east of the #115
Highway. It is a full adult bird and the breast is almost completely reddish,
with the Eastern sub-species vertical streaks and relatively unmarked undertail
coverts. I live in the area and will keep an eye out for it if anyone wishes
info via private communication.

The following cautionary tale has been approved by the Co-ordinator:

** Landowner concerns regarding the Townsend's Solitaire **

I was approached by a landowner walking her dog on north Langstaff Road where
everyone has been viewing the Townsend's Solitaire. Apparently this morning
while making her coffee she was startled to have someone actually skulking
around her yard trying to get a better view of the Solitaire. She asked me if I
could get a message out to the community that, while she understands the
passion, she will not accept people wandering about her property without
permission. They moved to the country for privacy. The landowners who have not
been out to the road to say hello have NO IDEA why all these people with scopes
and cameras are around. Please think about the harm that negative public
relations can do to the birding community and gently pass this message on to
others who may need a reminder.

Cheers, and good birding!
