Our count was held on Saturday 15 December. It was a quiet day in most of our
circle, with lots of open water and a flat grey sky, but there were some
goodies. We had a total of 34 field observers and at least 10 feeder-watchers
(some more may report yet). We had a total of 49 species plus 3 of the various
hawk sp, gull sp, accipiter sp types. This is a little low by historical
averages. Notable sightings were 1 Common Raven, 2 Northern Shrikes, and 2
barred owls including one on a speed limit sign (producing a great pic)
We had over 13,000 individual birds counted, which is high for recent years.
