Ontbirders,
For those still wishing to add this excellent winter species to your winter
lists, the TWO previously reported BARN SWALLOWS were present and active today
at the Burlington Sewage Treatment Plant, in Burlington, ON.
I viewed the birds from 11:05 AM until 11:25 AM this morning. I was in the
parking lot across from the plant(look for the sign that reads E4), looking at
the cell directly north. The swallows were flying constantly but very low at
the back of the cell, despite very strong winds, barely skimming over the cement
pillars dividing the cells, and staying fairly close to water.
The wind offered up a nice break today, as the aromas emitting from this stank
treatment plant typically remind me of grim death.
Happy birding,
Directions as per Cheryl's post
Take QEW to QEW niagara to Northshore Blvd. Go east on Northshore
Blvd to Lakeshore Blvd. Turn right. Go down to Beachway Park Pavillion on the
