From: Michael Tate [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: November-17-12 5:51 PM To: '[email protected]' Subject: Red Crossbills,Bohemian Waxwing and Cave Swallow at Point Pelee Birders This morning Bob Cermak and I went to DeLaurier parking area at Pelee and met up with Marianne Reid-Balkwill and Jeremy Hatt who were doing a "big sit". They had previously seen 4 Red Crossbills and we all subsequently saw 2 Red Crossbills and then also a single Bohemian Waxwing was well seen flying over calling. Other birds of interest were several small flocks of White-winged Crossbills, Pine Siskins and Common Redpolls (Marianne and Jeremy only) Bob and I met Alan Wormington at the Tip later and Alan picked out a single Cave Swallow flying over. Two Cave Swallows and a Tree Swallow were also seen yesterday near the Serengetti Tree. Alan, Bob and I also had an American Redstart two days ago, found by Alan, which was record late by a week. This afternoon we found 2 Fox Sparrows at the south end of Hillman Marsh. Several Common Grackles (Late) were also seen flying over today. The weather today was mainly sunny, a high of 11 degrees. Also of note was a Common Green Darner (dragonfly!!!) seen at North West Beach.
