Annarita from London and Larry Ludwicki spent the last hour on on the tower enjoying the day. Weather: It was a sunny, relative warm day. Winds started in the north, but swung to the south by the afternoon. Beautiful for sitting on the tower and enjoying a November day, no so great for migration. Raptor Observations: It was a very slow day for raptor migration, only three species were noted passing through. There have been no reports of the Gyrfalcon in the last two days. Non-raptor Observations: It was however a tremendous day for winter finch movement. There was a steady stream of finches throughout the day, and the watchers on the tower were treated to brief landings of White-winged Crossbills and Common Redpolls in the trees beside the structure. There continues to be a good diversity of ducks in the marsh and a lone Common Loon was spotted flying over the tower. Predictions: More of the same weather wise - if the winds stay out of the northeast as predicted, there should be some movement. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Sarah Rupert ([email protected]) Holiday Beach Migration Observatory information may be found at: http://hbmo.org/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
