Posting on behalf of myself, Steve Charbonneau and James Burk.....

This morning just after 10:00, we were scoping the Bay off the Rondeau Park dock and Steve spotted a fine male EURASIAN WIGEON. It was not far off the left side of the dock feeding on the large matte. *The dock is not far inside the park gate to the right behind the Park Store. Gate fee applies of course. There are thousands of wigeon among other ducks, so there is a lot to sort through. There is likely more than one Eurasian Wigeon out there! And, perhaps something else.

Land birding was a bit slow this morning, but a few COMMON REDPOLLS were at the Rondeau Visitor Centre. EVENING GROSBEAKS are in the VC area, but we did not spot any today.

Just outside the park gate in the corner of the Bay, a large flock of DUNLIN was feeding on the mud. Here, about 7 or 8 WILSON'S SNIPE were also present.

One of the first SNOWY OWLs of the season was spotted by myself near the SW corner of Bisnett Line and Fargo Road north of Erieau. It was sitting on a red pipe in the corn field on the Rol-land Farm.

A thorough search of Erieau this morning failed to turn up any CAVE SWALLOWS. Perhaps some will show tomorrow on the warm SW wind!

A nice adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was on the Erieau pier today with many other gulls.

Directions to Erieau: The port of Erieau is located south of Blenheim.
West out of Blenheim on Talbot Trail (Rd. 3), turn left onto (Erieau Rd.)
Rd. 12 and follow to village. The pier area is found by continuing through
the village and turning right at the restaurant intersection
