There was some morning fog to contend with but luckily it didn't last long. Temperatures were in the 40s. The wind was moderate and out of the northeast. Raptor Observations: We had a consistently enjoyable flight today with some spectacular looks at lingering Golden Eagles and Northern Goshawks. Cooper's Hawks, Red-tailed Hawks and Northern Harriers were also seen in solid numbers, contributing to the day's overall quality. Non-raptor Observations: Three Lapland Longspurs passed overhead in the morning. A female Long-tailed Duck flew by in the early afternoon. Forster's Terns (5) were foraging in the channel at one point. And American Crows (6,000+) were again on the move. Predictions: Partly cloudy with highs in the upper 40s and light northwest wind. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The primary site used by the Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and it's Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
