In the past 4-5 days winter finches have reached as far south as central Elgin Co. in good numbers, more or less surging past and into our yard area near the north shore of Lake Erie between St Thomas and Pt Stanley (old Hwy 4 ) and at our feeders . Eg, yesterday 8-10 Purple Finches, 3 White-winged Crossbills, 35 Pine Siskins, 30 Evening Grosbeaks.
