Ruby-throated Hummingbird - Monarch Landing, Port Burwell I had the unique pleasure to visit Aaron Allensen at his property, Monarch Landing, today. Bordering the north coast of Lake Erie, amidst a glut of autumnal species, a Ruby-throated Hummingbird has been spotted here for ten days on end now, including my witness today. Its migration seems to have stalled evident with its recurrence at the feeder. Unsure if it will continue along Lake Erie, nectar has been made available.
Ruby and Golden-crowned Kinglets regularly peaked by and flitted around. White-throated and White-crowned sparrows fed. We spotted an Eastern Towhee fleeing from the Italian Plum. An Eastern Phoebe patrolled for flies. A Red-bellied Woodpecker, Myrtle Warbler, and two species of nuthatches were noted with the Black-capped Chicadees!!! Monarch Landing is located at the Southern terminus of Hwy 19, Port Burwell, East Elgin county. Head East on Lakeshore Road one and a half kilometres from hwy 19.
