Hello everyone,

At 5:40 pm this evening, I was surprised to find a LE CONTE'S SPARROW skulking
in the golden rods/low dog woods along the James St. Trail in Guelph. The bird
offered approx. 4-5 brief but decent views over a period of about 10 minutes,
and called numerous times before being flushed into deeper vegetation by a pair
of runners.

Along with the LCSP, there were a decent number of migrants in the vicinity,
including a lone Orange-crowned Warbler in with a mixed flock of Yellow-rumped
Warblers and both Kinglet species.

Directions: Guelph is located off HWY 6 north of the 401. Once in Guelph,
follow Gordon St. north from Stone Rd. past the university and down the hill.
Turn right onto James St. West before you hit the Speed River, and park along
the road. The trail entrance is at the east end of James St., follow the trail
for a few hundred meters until there is an opening with a patch of golden rod
and weeds along the south side of the trail (adjacent to hole 12 of the golf
course). The LCSP was at the far east end of these goldenrods where they meet a
small patch of dogwoods.

Good birding,
