This afternoon I had a Myiarchus genus flycatcher on Hastings Drive (west off 59, or Long Point Road, where it bends to become Erie Blvd).
I saw the bird literally for a split second as it flushed, mid-height, from a cottonwood near the lake, about 200m from where the road ends. All I can say is that it was a large Myiarchus -- I'm not claiming anything else, but I thought I should give a heads-up -- in case anyone in the area can relocate the bird and sort out whether it was the expected (if late?) Great Crested, or something more interesting like an Ash-throated… Chris Burris Waterloo _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
