Greetings Ontbirders,
Fred Helleiner found an early juv. Purple Sandpiper this morning on
Sebastopol Pt. (=island). It could be scoped up from adjacent Gull
Island and was working the shoreline in front of the western-most duck
blind. It could easily relocate to Gull Island or Owen Pt. since all
the shorebirds seem to move around from site to site.
Other shorebirds seen were Sanderling, Dunlin, 3 Semi Plover and an
adult White-rumped. A Red-necked Grebe, plus 5 Surf Scoters were
rafting north of Gull Is., roughly off from Beach 3.
Also, please remember that only duck hunters are allowed to go to Gull
Is., High Bluff Is., Owen Pt., Calf Pasture Pt. and the marsh on
Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Cheers,
Doug McRae
Presqu'ile is located south of Brighton, on the north shore of Lk.
Ontario. It is well signed from Hwy 401 or Hwy 2.
