Once the fog lifted, it remained overcast much of the time. The wind was moderate and out of the southwest. Raptor Observations: But for a fleeting run of Sharp-shinned Hawks in the early afternoon, there was little to be seen. Non-raptor Observations: Small numbers of Pine Siskins and Purple Finches were heard overhead. Blue Jays, American Goldfinches and Red-winged Blackbirds continue to move through. On the trails, Yellow-rumped, Blackpoll and Palm warbler were noted as well as Golden-crowned Kinglet. Also, Red-breasted Nuthatches continue to be heard with regularity. Predictions: Partly sunny with highs in the upper 70s and strong wind out of the southwest. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The primary site used by the Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and it's Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
