Greetings all,

This morning on Owen Pt./Gull Island there was a Buff-breasted Sandpiper (channel between Owen Pt. and Gull is.), at least 2 Sharp- tailed Sparrows (SE corner of the dried up pond on Gull Is.), 3 Cackling Geese that flew over Gull Is. calling with one Canada in the flock, a Barn Swallow (flying between High Bluff and Gull Is.), a Marsh Wren (Gull Is.), an immature Peregrine (High Bluff Is.), female Common Goldeneye (channel between Gull and High Bluff), 1st year Bald Eagle (High Bluff).

Birders interested in coming down should bear in mind that most of the best birding areas in the Park (Owen Pt., Gull Is., High Bluff Is., Calf Pasture Pt., and the marsh) are all closed to the public on Mon., Wed., Fri., and Sat. to accommodate the duck hunt. After today, the next chance to look for these goodies will be on Tuesday.

Cheers,

Doug McRae
