Visitors:
Several visitors today...and once more thanks to Jen, Derek, Colin, Mary,
Dave V., Keith, Ernie, Margerette, Alf, Cathy, Carol, Gord Kozak and
visitors - sorry - I didn't get everyone's names.
Weather:
Winds continued moderate from the SW and S...with a mix of sun and cloud
then mostly sunny. Temp once again to a high of 22C. Fairly low humidity
right from the start of the day.
Raptor Observations:
Flight was smaller again today with a total of just 133 birds....with the
big surprise a nice flight of Peregrines (13)...an excellent count for just
half way through September. Normally, we don't expect such numbers still
the very end of September or beginning of October. The 1pm PGs came in
together & then 2 OS soon after. All PGs were Juvies and all but 2 were
smallish looking.
Other species seen included Osprey (9), N. Harrier (11), Sharpies (50),
Cooper's (2), Broadwings (8), Kestrels (38) and Merlin (2).
Non-raptor Observations:
Red Bellied Woodbecker, Cedar Waxwings, RT Hummingbird Harry Woodbeckers
(3), G. Catbird, C. Loon, Gray-cheeked Thrush, Swainson's Thrush, Least
Flycatcher, Gr. Crested Flycatcher, Traill's Flycatcher, Blackpoll
Warbler,
C. Yellowthroat, N. Flicker, Song Sparrow,
Barn & Tree Swallows, Indio Bunting, Rbins, Red Eyed Vireo, White-throated
Sparrow (get out the long johns),
DC Cormorants, Goldfinches, Blue Jays (approx 100)
