Nauman and M. J. Dunn. Thanks to Ronnie, Jim, Colin and M. and Keith for helping with today's count. Weather: Winds were light then strengthening to moderate primarily from the SSW, SW and WSW. Temp very warm with a high of 27C...though the humidity dropped off nicely for the day. Some cloud today...though never more than a quarter of the sky covered. Raptor Observations: A better than expected flight today with a total of 61 birds. Highlight species of the day....Peregrines (7)..a nice count at this point in September though not a huge surprise on moderate SW winds. Other falcons were also on the move with Kestrels (15),,,and other species including Osprey (8), N. Harrier (10) and Sharpies (20). Non-raptor Observations: No DB&O report was submitted today. Predictions: Friday looks very interesting with predicted NW winds...BUT the cold front needs to push through pretty much completely overnight so it's dry by early Friday morning. If it does...we could see a good Broadwing flight even if it occurs later in the day. Saturday also looks promising with again predicted northerly winds....assuming that prediction holds the Broadwings will almost certainly be on the move. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Dave Brown ([email protected]) Hawk Cliff Hawkwatch information may be found at: http://www.ezlink.on.ca/~thebrowns/HawkCliff/index.htm _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
