On Thursday evening, September 6, 2012, I counted 444 Great egrets entering the roost at Luther Marsh between 7pm to 8pm. This is the largest number recorded at this site in the last 5 years.
The main east entrance of Luther Marsh can be accessed by Highway 25 North of Grand Valley, then west(left) on Concession Road 8-9 to Sideroad 21-22 where you turn north (right). The egret roost is in some shallow marshy cells west of Sideroad 21-22 and about half way between Luther Marsh main entrance and the hamlet of Monticello.
