>From Peter Wukasch Today I was driving past a small pond behind the Harvey's and Swiss Chalet on Holland St. West in Bradford and had close-up views of 4 Baird's Sandpipers accompanied by R.-Billed Gulls. This "pond" is really more of a temporary pool, so the birds may not hang around for long. Also, along the spit at the Summerlyn Pond, just east from there is a Great Egret with an orange tag on its wing. Unfortunately the light was too bright to observe any number. Directions: North on Hwy. 400 to County Rd. 88. Go right on CR88 past the Walmart until you see the entrance to Swiss Chalet. Turn right on to the road right behind the restaurant and continue on until you see the pool on your left. The Baird's were right there. Continue east until you reach Summerlyn Trail. Turn left and keep bearing right on to Downy Emerald Dr. The pond where the egret is located is on your right. Good birding. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
