While heading to Sobeys after checking on the grebes Sue and I observed a Fish
Crow on Jones between Lakeshore and Marine at about 6 PM today. The bird did
not linger but was heard and seen well.

The single Red-necked Grebe chick is now about half grown. Another observer
told us that there are about six eggs in the nest.

An male Wood Duck moulting into eclipse plumage was present. This is only my
second July record for the species at Bronte Harbour in two decades of record
keeping in the area.

Directions: Exit the QEW at Bronte Road (Oakville) and go to the lake. The area
is served by Oakville Transit routes 2 and 14 from the Bronte and Oakville GO
Train Stations respectively. Jones is one block east of Bronte. The grebe nest
is just east of the Compass Restaurant on Ontario St. Ontario St. is where you
end up when you follow Bronte to the end.
