4 pectoral sandpipers were in the Alfred Lagoon today. They were along the west shore in the east lagoon that was excavated last year. There are also lots of ducks, green-wing teal, blue-wing teal, redhead, American wigeon, wood duck, ruddy duck, gadwall, mallard plus spotted sandpipers coots and common gallinules. To get to the Alfred Lagoons, go east out of Alfred to Peat Moss Rd. You will see the Lagoons on the east side of the road. You need permission to walk out around the Lagoons but viewing from the Tower is free. The weather is warm but a trip to Alfred is always worth the effort.
