Hi Ontbirders:

Went back to the Falls this afternoon hoping for a repeat of yesterday. In
sharp contrast to Saturday which was just great for falcon activity, the adult
birds were seldom seen today although they did put in a brief appearance or
two. The young peregrines were mostly laying around. I find they are not as
active as in previous years but that could be that they've only fledged 1 week
ago. Perhaps in the coming week they will be flying around a lot more. It has
been a couple of hot days here. Bird activity in general was down today
compared to yesterday although I did see one Great Egret fly over the gorge.

Yesterday I saw a pair of American Kestrels perched on wires at the corner of
Concession 3 and Nine Lime Road in the Niagara Falls area. For those who visit
the area on vacation, I was surprised to see a hundred or more Cormorants next
to a service road near the Bitumar plant while driving into Hamilton on the
QEW. Some searching on the web shows it may be right near Hamilton Harbour.
At one point they were thinking a out sinking the man-made island so the
Cormorants would not nest there. I saw a car parked on what appears to be a
service road from where can see the Cormorants up close.
