Howard Shapiro and I drummed up a good collection of warblers today
between 7:00 and noon. Here are the numbers: American Redstart: 24;
Tennessee: 20; Magnolia: 17; Black-throated Blue: 16; Chestnut-sided:
14; Yellow-rumped: 10; Black-and-white and Palm: 7; Black-throated
Green: 6; Ovenbird and Yellow Warbler: 5; Northern Parula and
Blackpole: 4; Blackburnian and Common Yellowthroat: 3; Orange-crowned:
2; singles of Canada, Northern Waterthrush, Bay-breasted and Cape
May. We also found 3 Scarlet Tanagers and three Philadelphia Vireos.
For those who do not have have their Cliff Swallow fix; there is a
small colony nesting under the upper eave on the front of the Catholic
school just north of the wooded creek and slightly larger colony on
the Filtration building on the west edge of the park.
Direction: the park is located just south Kipling at Lakeshore
Boulevard.
