Hi everyone, Nearby birders might be interested to know that a GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER was seen at Clair Lake Park in Waterloo. The bird was heard and then seen just North/West of the lake at the top of the small hill. I'll post a photo here later this evening: http://www.nbest.ca/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=3
On a side note, a WHITE-EYED VIREO was seen at Laurel Lake Conservation Area last Friday (not by me). This is the first 'recent' record for the county of that species, and I think may be the first 'properly' recorded one! We weren't able to relocate it today. The Kitchener/Waterloo region can be accessed via Highway 8 from the 401. After about 5km get onto King Street. Follow that for about 6km, then turn left onto University Ave West. Then after 2.2 km turn right onto Keats Way Place. Then turn right onto Amos Avenue and follow it until the big turn in the road (there'll be a trail there to Clair Lake Park). Or plug these coordinates into Google Maps to get the precise location of the bird: 43.46235,-80.555599 Good luck!
