Hi All,
despite the very wet and very windy weather conditions this
morning, there was a movement of Bonaparte's Gulls all morning at PEPTBO.
>From 07:00 to 12:00 there were over 15,000 Bonaparte's heading NE into the
wind in flocks ranging in size from 20 to over 500, many cutting across the
land behind me, I expect I missed many more of the flocks going behind me,
so the number could have been higher.
Mixed in with them were 59 Little Gulls including a group of 8, and a full
summer plumaged Sabines Gull, the Sabines went through at 10:48am.
Very few gulls were moving in the afternoon.

To reach Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory and the NWA, from Picton.
Take Main Street from the east end of downtown Picton, go down to the
bottom of the hill and turn immediately right onto Union Street (directly
across
from Tip of the Bay Motel). Follow Union Street up out of Picton (it becomes
County Road 8) for 2.5 km, at the junction in the highway, turn right onto
County Road 17 and follow it for 6.5km, turn left onto County Road 16 and
continue to the stop sign at the end (about 1km). Turn right and follow County
Road 13 past the Black River Cheese factory and continue for 23.5 km to the
Prince Edward Point National Wildlife Area (County Road 13 eventually
becomes Long Point Road). At Ducks Dive Charters the road turns to gravel,
continue for 2.5 km to the bird observatory on the right.
