I went for a bike ride on the Centennial Trail this afternoon. The Centennial
Trail parallels the north side of New St., between Guelph Line and Burloak Dr.
Heading back south on my way home about 4:45 PM, about halfway between Burloak
and Appleby, I flushed a single crow as I rode by it. It was on the grass
quite close to the bike path. I wasn't paying close attention to it, but when
it flew up and away from me, it started it's "Nya, Nya, Nya" call, at least a
half dozen times. The call was identical to the Fish Crow I saw on the
lakeshore in Bronte a couple of weeks ago. I stopped to watch as it flew
away. The bird had the same flight characters as the Bronte bird. A
shallower, quicker wing cadence, without the "rowing" appearance of American
Crows.
Directions: Go south from the QEW toward Lake Ontario on either Burloak or
Appleby. The Centennial Trail bisects these roads between Fairview and New St.
