Hi all, After a rather hearty "Irish Breakfast" at Grandpa Jimmy's in
Grand Bend, Penny and I walked the beach boardwalk and then decided to drive
around the block and enjoy a walk in the park on this magnificent springlike
day(instead of painting). There were only 80/90 Tundra Swan quite far out
to the south of Greenway Rd - these fields are very dry and it's been some 3
weeks since I saw a decent flock of 1500/2000 of these magnificent birds from
the Blain/Haig corner accessable from River Rd off Greenway Rd or Walker Rd off
Hwy #21. I saw 1 Eastern Phoebe at the Toboggan Hill/Skating Rink area and
heard 1 or 2 more on Riverside Trail(gates are now open to 'drive the circle'.
We found 3 Fox Sparrow at the bench on the upper stretch of this trail. The
Bald Eagle was sitting low in the nest at the Brackley bridge and we watched it
rise once when it seemed to be arranging eggs. This did make me a bit late
in starting to paint, but I managed to finish the job despite a significant
spill on the carpet not the nearby dropsheet.
Cheers! Maris
