I explored an area by the Don River after lunch on Family Day. I spotted a
male and female mallard by a deposit of riverside trash and went over to
investigate. Nearby the ducks, I noticed a lot of movement in the shrubs
nearby. A northern mockingbird was chasing a feeding flock of robins. The
mockingbird swerved and flew from branch to branch, spooking, but not
catching any of the robins. A blue jay even made an appearance to
investigate what all the commotion was about . I continued by walk, and an
hour later, the northern mockingbird was still spooking the large flock of
robins.

A trail leading to the riverside path, can be accessed from Duncan Mill
Road. Duncan Mills Road is two lights north of York Mills on Don Mills Road
in Toronto. There is parking at 240 Duncan Mill Road. The Betty Sutherland
trail can be found on the north side of Duncan Mill Road, and the trail
through the field to the river can be found on the south side of Duncan
Mill Road, just before Don Mills Road. The trail goes through the field
near Duncan Mill, under a bridge, then along the river on public land,
before ending nearby the Donalda Club.
