Hi Ontbirders:
The Eardley-Masham area continues to be very good for seeing winter finches.
More birds today than I've seen on previous trips. Small groupings of 7, 4, 3
ad 2 Red Crossbills at various locations, flocks of Pine Siskins with Common
Redpolls mixed in and a group of about a dozen Common Redpolls were seen along
with Red-Breasted Nuthatch. One tree was busy with Pine Siskins picking at
cones. Some birds were moving quickly in the same tree and I did not get a
good look as my eyes were darting all over but one did strike me as possibly a
White-Winged Crossbill. Within the last week, a Ruffed Grouse on the road
(rare), Purple Finches, Adult and Juvenile Bald Eagles, Ravens and Crows were
seen as well....the latter 3 species feeding on deer carcasses. Thanks.
