Concession 1 at the entrance to the Long Lane Farms, house # 7345, about 2 kms.
from Highway 6. Also in the area were Rough-legged Hawk, Northern Harrier and
Eastern Bluebird.Next stop, Desjardins Canal, off York Rd. in Dundas, produced
Song Sparrow, 2 Kingfishers, Pied-billed Grebe, Hooded Mergansers and 5
Cackling Geese.A short walk at the Royal Botanical Gardens off Old Guelph Road
produced no real rarities but we did see a 1st-year Bald Eagle, Carolina and
Winter wrens and several White-throated Sparrows. At Gray's Road were
White-winged and Surf scoters. Windermere hosted 9 Ring-necked Ducks, numerous
Bufflehead, Northern Shovelers, Ruddy Ducks; American Coot and an American
Kestrel. At nearby Red Hill Creek were several DC Cormorants, Hooded Mergansers
and a Great Blue Heron. At the final stop at the Burlington Ship Canal we saw
hundreds of ducks including both scaup and Redhead, as well as great views of
an adult Peregrine Falcon. We recorded 53 species altogether. Dave
