Thank you to everyone who responded off-list to help identify the mystery duck at the marina.
A summary of all responses can be seen on my blog at http://kikipotamus.wordpress.com/2012/01/06/duck-mystery-probably-solved/ Conclusion: probably an escaped domestic duck bred and kept by fanciers, specifically the Black East Indies. Thank you again to all who helped pin this down. Kelly Morrissey [email protected] Lakeview Park Marina is at the foot of Riverdale Ave where it ends at 9200 Riverside Drive East in Windsor, just 10 km east of the Detroit-Windsor tunnel. Follow Riverside Drive until you see the 66-foot tall white and red lighthouse on the corner. The marina is on the left. >From the 401, take Manning Road/County Road 19, exit number 21. Turn right >(north) on Manning Road/County Road 19 to Riverside Drive, approximately 9.5 km. Turn left (west) on Riverside Drive and go approximately 5 km. until you see the old Pelee Passage lighthouse. Turn right into the marina. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
