Hello, all, I hope someone will be kind enough to help me identify a little glossy black duck I've seen twice in two days at the marina.
My complete description with very bad cell-phone photograph are posted on my blog at http://kikipotamus.wordpress.com/2012/01/06/mystery-duck-at-lakeview-park-marina/ Summary: 20% smaller than the mallards around it all glossy black except for possible white on secondaries that is hidden most of the time black bill black eyes black webbed feet quacks or cackles almost like a mallard but slightly more diminuitively Thank you to anyone who has the time and inclination to help. Kelly Morrissey [email protected] Lakeview Park Marina is at the foot of Riverdale Ave where it ends at 9200 Riverside Drive East in Windsor, just 10 km east of the Detroit-Windsor tunnel. Follow Riverside Drive until you see the 66-foot tall white and red lighthouse on the corner. The marina is on the left. >From the 401, take Manning Road/County Road 19, exit number 21. Turn right >(north) on Manning Road/County Road 19 to Riverside Drive, approximately 9.5 km. Turn left (west) on Riverside Drive and go approximately 5 km. until you see the old Pelee Passage lighthouse. Turn right into the marina. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
