Summary Results of 9th Annual Lanark Highlands Christmas Bird Count, held 
Friday, Dec. 30, 2011.

Lanark Highlands CBC is centred on the village of Watsons Corners in Lanark 
County.

Weather was cold with much snow on the ground and the trees.

Total Species counted: 40, equal to record set last year.

Total Birds counted: 3903 (record was 4276).



New to the count:

Hooded Merganser

Ring-billed Gull

Belted Kingfisher.



Record highs: 

Common Raven -56

American Robin -105

American Tree Sparrow -150 

Dark-eyed Junco –142

White-winged Crossbill –153

American Goldfinch –1086.



Low counts:  woodpeckers, chickadees, snow buntings and zero house sparrows.
