In the 10:00 hour today, the King Eider was quite mobile along the east side of the pier, in nice shelter from the nw wind. It ranged from the first trail to the lake all the way out to the point!

Directions: From QEW St. Catharine take the Niagara St. exit going north (toward the Lake) road 48. Right on Lakeshore (87) and cross the Bridge. Take first legal left , then first left again, then first right: short jog and go left into the canal/marina road. Park at the end of this drive lot. and go toward the lake through the fence gate. Make your first right onto the path going east just at the end of the fenced in east marina and follow the paths to view the bay area. This path goes all the way north to the end of the jetty. You may want to bring a scope but today the adult King Eider was mostly close to shore with the motley groups of mixed ducks.

Happy New year!
