Ontbirders:

The Great Gray Owl is being seen by many this morning in the same area as
described in Sarah's post below. It is currently on the north side of
concession 2 near house number 1182.

Subject: [Ontbirds] Great Grey Owl - West of Kingsville ON

HI All

Sorry to anyone who was confused with my directions - with all the excitement
of the first record of this species in Essex County and the messages coming in
and out, I could have been clearer.

I've attached a link to the area the owl was last seen below.

http://maps.google.ca/maps?client=safari&rls=en&q=1643+McCain,+Kingsville+on&oe=UTF-8&redir_esc=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x883adda9c632c131:0x3c32df6c895fb4d0,1643+McCain+Side+Rd,+Kingsville,+ON+N9Y+2E4&gl=ca&ei=6wr1TqDyLKfZ0QGfqODFAg&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CB0Q8gEwAA

>From Leamington, take County Rd 20 (Seacliff Drive) west through Kingsville.
>You'll pass Pleasant Valley Campground on the north, the next road is McCain
>Side Road. Turn north on McCain and continue down the road approx 2 km.
>You'll see address marker 1643 on the west side of the road, the bird was last
>seen at the north end of that property along the edge of a farm field.

We watched the bird until we lost the light. I was actively feeding throughout
the time I was watching it and we're hoping it might stick around.

I plan to head out to look for the owl in the morning, before I head to work.
I will post the results, whether the bird is seen or not.

Good birding everyone
Sarah
