The Holland Marsh (NE of Hwys 400 and 9) snowy owl today was closer to where it was originally spotted than it was Saturday, when it was seen north of Tornado drive. Today around midday it was in the field at equal distance (about 150 meters) from Strawberry and Aileen. That would place it about midway between Saturday's sighting and the very first sightings of about two weeks ago. If this is any indication of its usual hunting grounds, the bird can be expected on either side of the river and may therefore be more difficult to find, because river bound roads in Holland Marsh end at the river, requiring owlers to get near the other side of the river via en extensive Canal rd. detour. The owner of the property at the w. end of Edward str. told me today he sees the white owl every year near his property.

There was a much younger snowy owl near the very end of the piece of Yonge street that runs south from Ravenshoe rd in south Keswick west of Leslie. Near the owl was a flock of 200-300 snow buntings.

Other birds in the area: a harrier busy hunting, a red tail resting in a tree, and a juvenile sharp shinned on a tv antenna.
