Cooler temperatures ranged from 8-11 C. Fairly strong winds out of the northeast. Raptor Observations: Another very nice day of migration. Buteos and vultures were moving again despite the overcast skies. A nice variety of species was seen today, with Northern Goshawk and a few Golden Eagles and Rough-legged Hawks headlining. There was an hour long burst of activity in the late afternoon that was pretty crazy; Red-tailed Hawks were coming in off the water, overhead, and as far as we could see to the north. Mixed in was what appeared to be a partially albino or leucistic Red-tailed Hawk: the bird had a red tail but appeared mostly white above with a few dark feathers. Very cool! Non-raptor Observations: Even more American Crows today! Horned Larks are passing by every day now in pretty decent numbers. I saw my first American Tree Sparrow of the fall around the tower this morning.
