This afternoon on the lunch hour, Rob Dobos found a Pacific Loon off the end of Gray's Road in Stoney Creek. It was in the company of three Common Loons giving good comparisons of size and structure. The bird was at scope distance but did come in briefly with the others, constantly diving. Other birds here were Surf Scoter, Black Scoter (including 2 stunning males), Horned Grebe, Red Throated Loon.
Directions: Take QEW Niagara to Centennial Parkway. North on Centennial pkwy toward the lake to North Service Road. Right (east) on the service road to Drake Blvd.. Turn north on Drake Road and follow it to the end at Lakegate. Turn left on Lakegate, there is parking on the street just before Grays Road. Look out from the small parkette at the end of Grays. Cheers, Cheryl Edgecombe _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
