Ontbirders, There was a Franklin's Gull [1st cycle, formative] at Pittock Lake this morning, in the west end, just off the Roth Park beach area. It might be a tough bird to relocate, as it came in with Ring-bills, took a quick bath and drink, and quickly departed north again with Ring-bills. Most [of the few] Franklin's in Oxford tend to feed in farm fields during the day and and come back to the lake to roost. There is a land development just north of the lake, along Tollgate Road that might be worth checking. The park itself was packed with migrants, mostly expected October fare [hundreds of White-throats, Yellow-rumps, many RC Kinglet, Hermit Thrush, Winter Wren etc.], notable were 8 Orange-crowned Warbler. Also of interest were two flocks [of 15 and 50] of Pine Siskin, so they are definitely on the move. To reach Roth Park, take Vansittart north to Devonshire, east on Devonshire to Huron, north on Huron to the lake. Cheers,
