On Wednesday, Aug.17, the mild NW wind and rising barometric pressure
suggested a good autumn hawk migration. Between 10 and 11am Alan Woods
and I were walking along the trail between Solina and Park Rds.
paralleling the RR tracks and just NW of the Darlington nuclear plant.
While enjoying the actions of immature Moorhens and Green Herons we
noted the following in the skies above-- 1 Northern Harrier, several
Turkey Vultures, 2 Red-tailed Hawks and as many as 10 Broad-winged
Hawks--all of them were flying effortlessly westward.

Going westward along the 401 we exited at Courtice Rd., south to the
South Service Rd., then eastward along it to Solina Rd., turning south
toward Lake Ontario--at the south end we parked the car to walk
eastward along the trail.
