Hello everyone, Firstly, we would like to thank the local birders we have met up with during the last two weeks. Your local knowledge has been a key factor in helping us find birds.
Jaime Hall and I are halfway through riding across Canada to raise money for the conservation of one the largest forests left in the world, the Pacific temperate rainforest of coastal British Columbia. We have been birding since we left St. John's, Newfoundland on May 1st, and after 6000km, have reached Owen Sound. From here, we will catch the ferry to Manitoulin Island, and then head west through Sault Ste. Marie, Thunder Bay, Dryden and Kenora. Our fund-raising is similar to that of a birdathon, where money is donated based on the number of species we have seen. After some very fun birding in Southern Ontario, our total stands at 227, and depending on what migrants are still hanging around out west over the next 3 months, we should be able to add 100-150 more. More about our ride, our birding success and much more, can be found on our website: http://www.tilthelasttree.com If anyone can help with sites for any of the following in Northern Ontario, we would be most grateful: American White Pelican Northern Goshawk Sora (!)
