Good Morning Ontbirders At exactly 6:00am this morning, from my Ambleside balcony, Nina Stavlund and myself saw a plegadis Ibis make a brief appearance at the mouth of the sewage outlet, east of Britannia, and west of Deschenes lookout! The view was too short and too far to confirm facial characters or leg colour. However, the silhouette was distinctive. It was feeding in the open, along the vegetated flood plain (there were 4 Great Egrets there yesterday). It is highly probable that this was Ben's White-faced Ibis!
It's unclear where the ibis is right now. But, we didn't see it fly away. So it may still be present. Views of the area can be made by walking the Ottawa River parkway (bike path) east of Britannia. The area can also be seen from Britannia point, east of the filtration plant. Unfortunately, I wont have time to go down there until this afternoon, and would appreciate hearing from those that might venture out there this morning.
